10 Gift Ideas Your Teacher Will Love
10 Gift Ideas Your Teacher Will Love (0) Although teachers never expect gifts from their students, especially in the upper grades, itâs always a pleasant surprise and a thoughtful way to let your teachers know they are appreciated. Since many teachers try to keep their personal lives separate from their work, it can be hard to know what gift your teacher will actually like and use. If youâre stuck for ideas, try one of the ten gift suggestions below that most teachers would love. Are you also stuck on how to build a bibliography? Visit our free EasyBib citation guides for help with MLA formatting, doing an APA style paper, or making a Chicago style citation. Coffee Almost all of us drink coffee to keep up with you energy balls. Instead of another mug (we get them all the time), some fancy, seasonal, or special coffee to put into a mug would surely be used. Spa day items Teachers work hard every day and donât take much time to pamper themselves. Lower-budget options could include face masks, bubble bath soap, and candles. For more of a splurge you could throw in fluffy towels or a soft robe. Movie passes Teachers do what we do because we are passionate about our jobs, not to make the big bucks. Treat your teachers to a nice date night, or even a night out with the whole family, by giving them a gift card to the movies. That way, they can join in the next time youâre discussing the latest release in their class. Office supply store gift certificate On a more practical note, all students spend money on office supplies. Even if your school buys some supplies, most teachers love new planners, colored pens, stickers, and everything else at these stores. It may seem like less fun than some of the other ideas, but your teacherâs face of excitement when receiving office supplies will be all you need to see how great this gift is to us. Chocolate or candy Not everyone likes chocolate, but few teachers can resist a sweet treat as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. If you choose this gift, go for more of an indulgent treat your teachers probably wouldnât buy for themselves like those $10 fair trade, organic dark chocolate truffles (my personal favorite). Choose quality over quantity, especially around the holidays when cheap candy litters the school. Anything homemade This really should be number one on the list. Spending your free time to make us a work of art, a handmade bag, baked goods, or whatever else you are good at making speaks volumes about how much you care. If you make a large batch of something delicious, you can wrap individual servings for all of your teachers. Weird stuff One of the coolest gifts Iâve ever received from a student was a cheese grater. Sounds weird, right? Was it regifted? Maybe. Do I care? Not at all! Unwrapping something unusual is such a fun surprise! Another teacher pal loved a gift of some fake fur blankets from a student. These offbeat ideas may seem totally random but are actually really fun! Interest-specific gifts If you know any details about your teacherâs personal life, giving a gift that relates to it is extremely thoughtful. One teacher was moving to Colorado and adored the box of Rocky Mountain Chocolates they received as a going away present. Things we complain about This is sort of a silly gift, but nonetheless appreciated. Are you that kid who always needs to borrow a pencil? Buy your teacher a hundred pencils! Did you lose my stapler after borrowing it to decorate the halls? A funky replacement that wonât be mistaken for anyone elseâs is a funny way to make amends. Plant This gift will bring life into your classroom or your teacherâs home. Decorative plants, especially those that are easy to care for, make any space more beautiful and relaxing. Hopefully this list has at least one idea you can use. Whatever you decide, it really is the thought that counts. Your teacher already loves you, so receiving a gift of any kind will be seen as a token of gratitude that lets your teacher know you were thinking of them and wanted to say thanks. A handwritten thank you card with (or instead of) a gift can also melt a teacherâs heart and make the difficult parts of being a teacher all worthwhile. Empathy and Understanding with Emotional Intelligence
Imagine a close associate whose pet has just passed away. You console the grief-stricken associate and you try to make him forget about the pain and stop him lamenting over their loss. In the process you too start to feel their loss, and you feel a sense of sadness both for the pet, and for your friend. It is this understanding and management of emotions that is the basis for Emotional Intelligence, or simply ââ¬Å"EIâ⬠. In its simplest terms, EI is ââ¬Å"the capacity to reason about emotions, and of emotions to enhance thinkingâ⬠(Mayer, Salovey and Caruso, lines 47-48). Emotional Intelligence helps us understand and empathize with a tribulation or problem that other people are facing. Though many psychologists believed that the IQ was more important, new research suggests that EI is more critical for daily life because it allows us to understand and manage otherââ¬â¢s emotions as well as ours. One major component of EI is managing emotions. At any given time, we hav e to control our emotions to best fit our environment. In the workplace, we have to maintain a sense of professional, often not showing whether we are distraught or sad. Though many employers do not want their workers to seem distraught, they often try to do anything to improve the morale, and thus productivity, of their workers. Many employers know how emotions affect the productivity of their workers, so they try their best so that the workers feel as happy and safe as they can at work. Roosevelt assumed the highest office in the land during a time when the American people were in dire need of leadership. The United States was in the midst of the Great Depression and had flashy political leaders trying to transform the face of America from a free enterprise republic to a kind of communist regime. Roosevelt on the other hand had a different idea. His focus was to stay with the traditional practices of a free enterprise republic while creating government subsi dized programs to benefit citizens in need. These government programs were put into law through Roosevelt's New Deal legislation. Through Roosevelt's New Deal, the Social Security Act was signed into law. The Social Security Act created a federal old-age insurance system which provided a modest monthly payment for American s aged sixty-five and older, and also provided unemployment compensation as well as governmental support for the handicappe d and for single mothers with dependent children. The Social Security Act initially was not intended to be a system of welfare; it was intended to function as a forced savings plan, forcing workers to pay into the system during their working years and receive modest payments in their retirement years. The Social Security Act began with noble intentions; however, through the years the Social Security Administration has converted into a huge bureaucratic welfare system where working men and women pay into the fund and can expect little to no return in their retirement years. In the past decades, Social Security Administration has had annual revenue that excesses the amount it pays to beneficiaries. However, U.S. economy situation has created a long-term effect in many of the public organizations and departments. Social Security Administration is one of many departments that will face some economy issues during U.S. economy recovery. 54 million people receive retirement, disability or survivor benefits with an average payment of $1,076 a month, (Ohlemacher, 2011). Social Security Administration has being able to save and invest taxpayers money into U.S. Treasury department. The money save into U.S. treasury department accumulates interest for future Social Security beneficiaries. Social Security has built up $2.5 trillion surplus since the retirement program was last overhauled i n the 1980s, (Ohlemacher, 2011). The money that Social Security invested in the treasury department is no t physically available for social securi ty beneficiaries. The $2.5 trillion has been borrowed over the years by the federal government and spent on other programs. In a promised to pay off the surpluses , The Treasury D epartment has is sued bonds to Social Security g uaranteeing payments with interest (Ohlemacher, 2011). If the situation gets worst for social security and asks federal government to pay off, there's no way that social security will obtain the money because there's no federal funds to pay off the debts to Social Security. This can cause delay payments to beneficiaries and future applicants. Social Security will face def icit in the following years if C ongress do es not take action to solve the future of the Social Security Administration. If federal government finds a solution to pay off social security, the money can run out by 2037 which is the date that many have projected, (Ohlemacher, 2011). The funds that social security currently has will be able to last for the next four years, after funds run out Social security will enter into deficit and start pushing federal government for the money that has being inve sted into trust funds. In the incoming years the baby boomers are going to be eligible for retirement and they will be face with a deficit of millions of dollars. The government needs to act immediately to resolve this economy crisis and be able to pay off Social Security funds with their interest that were promise. Federal government needs to cut down programs or future programs in order for social security to continue giving benefits to those 54 million people. These solutions cannot implemented right away because there are many stakeholders that have a major role in

Muslims are betrayed in the Media Essays
Muslims are betrayed in the Media Essays Muslims are betrayed in the Media Essay Muslims are betrayed in the Media Essay Name: Course: Lecturer: Date: Muslims are betrayed in the Media In this essay, I have noted the influence and impact that the media has on peopleââ¬â¢s opinions and of their perception concerning something. This is in all areas and sectors, including the economy, social life, and politics. The mediaââ¬â¢s portrayal of Muslims and the Islamic religion in general, has had a profound impact on the way people think about Muslims. This is because the media portrays Muslims as violent people, when they only choose to focus on the terrorist activities committed by a few people who proclaim to be Muslims. Because of this portrayal, many people tend to think that only Muslims can be terrorists, and they think that Islam is a religion that encourages violence. Muslims in the country feel victimized because of the media, and the influence that it has had on people. The 9/11 and 7/7 terrorist attacks continues to affect peopleââ¬â¢s opinions. The media fails to realize the rising stereotypical attitude that it continues to raise in people when it focuses on the negative nature of Islam. The issue of this negative portrayal of Muslims is especially personal for me, because I am a Muslim. I feel the different way that people view me because of my religion. In the UK, Muslims continue experiencing marginalization, and it becomes increasingly hard for them to interact and socialize with people from different religions and beliefs. Were it not for this influence, I believe that people would not develop an Islamophobia kind of attitude. They would see the religion of Islam like any other religion, say like Christianity or Buddhism. However, because of the negative images of the Islamic faith, many people fail to realize the benefits of Islam and the positive effect that it can have on the followers. The marginalization that Muslims go through has led to increased prejudice and discrimination. This has led to the harassment of some Muslims, which is carried out even by the law enforcers. My decision to do this topic is to make other people aware of the problems that Muslims go through because people have a bad and mistaken image of them. Many people in the British society are not aware of the problems and challenges that Muslims go through everyday because of their religion. I have experienced some of these problems, and this has led me to the realization that other people need to know about them. I hope that increasing peopleââ¬â¢s knowledge through this awareness will reduce the Islamophobia attitude that people have developed. I hope to do this by noting the lack of information, which people have because they tend to rely on the media for most of their information I have carried out extensive research for this essay. This has included researching many newspaper articles that have focused their attention on the Muslim community. I have used two of the most recognized and accessible newspapers, and these are the Daily Mail and The Telegraph. Many people read these newspapers, whether online or in print form. I have conducted primary research by speaking to many Muslims of all ages and genders. All the Muslims that I have spoken with feel that the media continues to betray them. I have spent a lot of time on the internet, to see the different reactions of the British society on people, and to see what the other forms of media have to say about Muslims. By consulting different media forms, I have realized that even the media does not have a clear definition and understanding of Islam.
